Alan Greenberger, FAIA Executive Director, Philadelphia City Planning Commission Monday, February 22, 2010 6:00pm to 8:00pm George Rowland White Theatre, University Center, Point Park University 414 Wood Street - Downtown Pittsburgh Alan Greenberger has been with the City of Philadelphia since 2008. In addition to his role as head of the planning commission, he is also the Acting Deputy Mayor for Planning and Economic Development and Director of Commerce. Prior to joining the City of Philadelphia administration, he was in private practice as an architect and planner with MGA Partners and its predecessor, Mitchell/Giurgola Architects. During his 34 years in private practice, Alan was the principal designer on numerous architectural, urban design, and planning projects. Among his notable projects ar the Salvation Army Kroc Corps Community Center in Philadelphia, the West Chester University School of Music and Performing Arts Center, the renovation of Lehigh University's historic Linderman Library, new campus plan and pavillions at the Mann Center for the Performing Arts, the America on Wheels Museum in Allentown, new campusplan and buildings for the National Foreign Affairs Training Center, and the Master Plan for the Centennial District in Philadelphia's Fairmount Park. Alan serves on the boards of numerous civic and cultural organizations in Philadelphia including the Fairmount Park Art Association, the Delaware River Waterfront Corporation and Philadelphia Industrial Development Corporation. He is a co-founder of the Design Advocacy Group of Philadelphia, a 1000 member organization that is a model of design advocacy nationwide.
