 2010/2011 Design Excellence Lecture Series: The Intentional Citizen In its third season of Monday night lectures, the Design Excellence Lecture Series centers around the theme of The Intentional Citizen and the question How does a community shape itself?. This season's speakers are: Monday November 1, 2010 Dr. Carolyn J. Lukensmeyer, an innovator in deliberative democracy, public administration, and organizational development. Her professional experience includes: Founder and President of AmericaSpeaks, consultant to White House Chief of Staff, and Chief of Staff to Governor Richard F. Celeste of Ohio. Monday January 31, 2011 Maurice Cox is an architectural educator and urban designer. His professional experience includes: Director of Design at the National Endowment for the Arts, Associate Professor of Architecture at the University of Virginia, Mayor and City Counselor for the City of Charlottesville, VA. Monday April 4, 2011 MarySue Barrett civic connector, intellectual, political analyst and strategist. Her professional experience includes: President of Chicago’s Metropolitan Planning Council since 1996, Chief of Policy for the Office of the Mayor, and Chief of Staff for the Chicago School Reform Board of Trustees. Each event includes a 30-minute lecture by the featured speaker and a 30-minute panel discussion by local design practitioners about the evening’s presentation. A reception follows the program. The Design Excellence Lecture Series is located at 414 Wood Street at Point Park University Center and begins at 6pm.
